Well, its resolution season again: We have been contemplating it for
the last 12 months. Even more so because the last time we said that this
upcoming New Year (which was last year), we were going to make a
conscious effort to put in motion our weight loss routine and stick to
it for the long haul.
Sadly, the majority of most human beings actually give up before they even get started. And whats worse is the fact that most times they weigh even more than last years resolution! Sometimes I sit back and think about why people go through the motions of setting themselves up for failure in the first place.
Why do we do it? I think the reason is because most do not setup realistic goals that they can achieve.
Instead we go through the year seeking out the latest quick weight loss schemes and so
called dieting fads knowing this is not the way to conquering our resolution. Making a resolution is the easy part. Understanding the reasons why you are making it is more important to reaching your weight loss goals.Permanent weight loss can only be achieved from realizing why you gained the weight in the first pace.
Then and only then will you be able to put together a solid action plan and stick to it. Real results cannot be seen until this aspect is dealt with. If not, the same results from last years promises will be this years result. For the up and coming New Year, start off by setting mini goals that will not be hard for you to accomplish. Mini goal accomplishments can transcend into the bigger picture; because you can actually see the results from your efforts.
This alone will give you the strength, desire, mindset, and motivation to continue to your desired goal weight. Starting out with the bigger picture as your target only results in losing interest and the donuts will be on the table again. Did you know that your body will tell you what it needs when you follow your plan?
This is the real key. The gimmicks do not work and trying to "trick your body does not work either.
With the New Year fast approaching, rethink the reason / reasons why you gained the extra weight; and why you need to lose the weight you gained.
